Assignment 1
HI
I'm Tine - a smiling and happy girl who loves travelling (or something like that) Born in Århus, raised in Silkeborg. I study dramaturgy here at the Department of Aesthetic Studies. I have been interested in theater all my life and I love that I have the opportunity to study it full time. What I really find interesting in theater is the way it communicates. This word communication is also the main reason why I choose this course. I would really like to explore more about it. I'm very much interested in double-effekt of the titel; communicating (in) the City. And I look forward to discover the city.
Assignment 2
My map of Århus
This is a map of my weekly routine in Århus - where my home is my center. The hidden shown in my map is the little stories of people we see and maybe even meet. I've done this because, I since we got the assignment have noticed small things on my way to university, quonga, work ect.
Assignment 3
A hybrid space is difficult to define, because it is several things at the same. According to Adriana de Souza e Silva is a hybrid spaces; a connected space, a mobile space, and a social space1. If we take the popular site Facebook would it then be a hybrid space? We can get access to Facebook through computers and cell phones. This means that we can connect no matter where we are (as long as we have these devices off cause). Therefore, is Facebook a mobile space. On Facebook we have the possibility to connect with friends that are not present in same physical space (we can have a online chat) we can also connect with friends who is not present on the site at the same time as one-self (We can leave a message to be read later on). Therefore is Facebook a connected space. Facebook is a social space, we communicate with our friends. But as Adriana de Souza e Silva writes “… a hybrid space occurs when one no longer needs to go out of physical space to get in touch with digital environments.” (p. 264). We are still actively loging on to Facebook, which means that there is a line between the physical space and the digital space. One could then argue that Facebook not will be a real hybrid space before this line is a blur.

Assignment 7
Your own “communicating (in) the city” experience.
1.what is your most memorable experience from this course? It could be with regards to readings, artworks or your assignments
Standing in the snow and making a map of all our routes to Kasernen with brown water.
2.name the text that you liked the most (or that you learned most from) (or that provoked you the most). Why?
// “The Generic City” by Rem Koolhaas. Interesting to read about city development, the viewpoints on how a generic city is a city without history, without public life in a traditional sense, a lack of identity. the development is happening, but how can we get the most of it. This text in combination with us making our on map made me see Århus in a new perspective.//
3.name one thing that you have learned from the readings (or, which text did you like the most? Why?)
//I've learned that structures, architectures are not innocent. They can both hinder and create life. Even evoke change in an urbanenvironment. //
4.which artwork/artefact/performance presented in class did you like the most (or provoked you the most). Why?
I really enjoyed "listening to the city" amazing how she caputeres daily rutines in a soundscape of real sounds. Beautiful.
5. what was your reply to the assignments? List them all and think about how to present them – as a whole – to others; as a collection, what have they contributed with to this course?
//Look above. The collection of the assignments shows ways to experience a city. By making these assignments and if one is to read them, and to do them. They will learn how a city communicates in several levels - and that if we are aware of that, we'll see and experience new things, small details that was there all along we just did'nt see them. //
6.which assignment do you find most in line with the course content? Why?
I think all of the assignments are in line with the course content.
Fx. Personalmap - we are introduced to mapping (readings + doing it ourselves) - we realise in several ways the power of mapping. How there always is a choice, something you leave out.
A definition of a Hybrid Space - we show how we understand a term thats vague.
The soundbite - we should not only have a visual focus but also an auditory focus.
